Project type
CPTED Assessment - Community
Date
2023
Location
Chifley Dam, Bathurst LGA, NSW.
Client
Sibling Architecture & Bathurst Regional Council
During the design of BARN - a Performing Arts Residency Space - The Design Partnership undertook a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) assessment for the new development and its context. The dam, located at Chifley Dam, south of the Bathurst city centre, is a scenic lookout and picnic area. Chifley Dam is used for water sports and activities, making it highly seasonal. Watersports include skiing, sailing, power boating, canoeing and a swimming beach. The artist residency comprised a series of performance buildings, dining facilities and accommodations.
The assessment considered the site against the four key CPTED criteria: Surveillance, Access Control, Territorial Reinforcement and Space and Activity Management.
Recommendations for the buildings and the precinct were identified and integrated into the final design and report.
