Masterplanning &
Urban Design
“By far the greatest and most admirable form of wisdom is that needed to plan and beautify cities and human communities.”
-Socrates
We create places that are functional, safe, connected, and responsive to the needs of communities. Our approach to masterplanning and urban design integrates Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles with a deep understanding of urban dynamics, ensuring both visionary and practical developments.
By balancing design, safety, and long-term usability, we help shape vibrant, well-structured environments that support positive social interactions, economic growth, and sustainable development.
Our expertise includes a wide range of masterplanning and urban design typololgies including strategic frameworks, precinct planning, mixed-use developments, and detailed site planning.
Whether refining an existing concept or developing a vision from the ground up, our master planning and urban design services provide the insight and direction needed to deliver high-quality, well-functioning urban spaces.

The Design Partnership Approach
At The Design Partnership, we understand that great places don’t happen by accident - they require vision, expertise, and a coordinated approach. Urban design is more than just shaping spaces; it’s about bringing together the right people to create functional, safe, and future-ready environments.
Masterplanning has long been the foundation of successful places. When Alexander the Great founded Alexandria in 331 BC, he relied on his chief architect, Dinocrates, to translate vision into a working city. While the tools have changed, the principle remains the same - good design requires careful planning and the right expertise.
As urban designers, we act as both visionaries and coordinators, working with a broad team of experienced consultants, from traffic engineers and public transport specialists to economists, environmental planners, and community engagement experts. Each element of a place - whether transport networks, public spaces, or built form - needs to function both individually and as part of the whole. Our role is to ensure all these moving parts come together seamlessly.
Master Plans guide the future physical, social, economic, and environmental qualities of a place, whether it’s a city, suburb, business precinct, or even a cemetery. Once established, they provide a clear framework so that all stakeholders understand what needs to happen, when, and how.
While Master Plans involve technical analysis, they are ultimately a design process - and good design doesn’t happen by chance. By working with the right specialists and taking a holistic approach, we create Master Plans that are not just plans on paper, but roadmaps for vibrant, resilient, and well-functioning places.
