TDP & ARTSCAPE – Maitland Place Activation Strategy

The Design Partnership is pleased to announce that we will be collaborating with ARTSCAPE to produce the Maitland Place Activation Strategy for Maitland City Council.

ARTSCAPE is an Australian public art, place making and cultural planning consultancy with a twelve-year history. ARTSCAPE’s strength lies with its proven ability to professionally undertake entire projects – from research, consultation, strategic thinking and visioning – through to the design, manufacture and installation of public art, signage, memorials, events production and landscape design. This knowledge of the development lifecycle, of any given project, is critical when preparing a strategy – knowing how those who implement the strategy may interpret and utilise it. ARTSCAPE’s Principal David Cianci will lead the project.

The Design Partnership’s Managing Director Kristy Ryan will collaborate with David Cianci in the delivery of this project. Kristy is an urban designer with a proven track record in placemaking and a focus on quality of life. Kristy has a wealth of expertise in how culture helps people to become happier and healthier and maintain a strong personal identity.

ARTSCAPE/The Design Partnership’s comprehensive success in all aspects of placemaking is firmly anchored in urban design, architecture, urban safety, landscape architecture and public art. All projects put forward will be filtered through the prism of those skills, expertise, experience and knowledge of infrastructural realities – ranging from construction to artwork design, fabrication and installation.

ARTSCAPE/The Design Partnership has solid experience in producing successful and implemented strategies for similar local government placemaking projects, such as Glenelg in Victoria and Dee Why in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

In realising this project, the team will investigate themes including:

  • Play Everyday

It is anticipated that the Draft Strategy will go on exhibition in late July. We look forward to discovering new and exciting initiatives for the people of Maitland.
